Why Kellan Lutz's Dogs Won't Fly the Friendly Skies
Throughout the past two years, Twilight star Kellan Lutz has traveled just about everywhere promoting his wildly-popular vampire franchise. But one little pal he's been missing when he's gone? His rescue dog, Kola.
"I never shoot stuff in L.A., so I'm always away from my friends, family and my dog," Lutz told PEOPLE at a Twilight fan convention in Los Angeles recently. And as for flying his pups to set? Forget it. "I couldn't put Kola underneath a plane. I would feel bad for that," he says. "Stuff could happen." If he got off the plane to find a lifeless creature in its cage, Lutz says he "would kill someone. I don't know what I would do."
Lutz is very attached to Kola and his newest pooch, Kevin, both of whom he takes for regular, public walks around L.A. "I live in an area where it's very easy to know when I leave my place," he explains, "so [the paparazzi] hide out and follow [me]."
While he's often photographed running with his pups, "when they take pictures of [me] at the dog park picking up dog poop every single day, it's like, come on," he laughs. "But I'm starting to learn that if I wear the same clothes, though, they can't sell the pictures, because it looks like it's from the same day. That'll teach them!"
