Zac Efron sets out to make a name for himself in Hollywood
After disappearing from the silver screen for more than a year, the High School Musical star will be back in about two and a half weeks with his new movie, Charlie St. Cloud. Meanwhile, Efron has been very busy with a veritable buffet of projects, reports MTV.com.
Efron set up his own production company, called Ninjas Runnin' Wild Prods., in February. Since then, the actor has added five different projects to his plate. Most recently, it was announced that he's teaming up with the writer and producers behind 17 Again for an “untitled workplace comedy."
Also in the works are Art of the Steal, about a master thief and based on a Wired magazine article, Einstein Theory, a time-travel story that will star Efron, Fire, based on a graphic novel about a college student-turned-CIA trainee, and Snabba Cash a remake of a recent Swedish thriller.
In addition, Efron will also lend his voice talents to the Cartoon Network's Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III as Anakin Skywalker, which will debut on Adult Swim in December.
It's clear from the range of projects above that Efron intends to make his name as a legitimate Hollywood producer.
Efron’s latest project, Charlie St. Cloud is about the protagonist’s choice between keeping a promise he made to his brother, who died in a car accident, or going after the girl he loves. It will be released in the U.S. on July 30.
